Our neighbor raises Chickens, ducks, geese and Turkeys. The turkeys are pets. Sir Thomas and Josephine. They are an endangered variety of Turkey and quite pretty. This morning our neighbor was gone and we had the turkeys visiting on our driveway. Because we know they are pets, we wanted to help get them back into their own yard.
The problem is that the gate is guarded by 3 geese. Rocky the biggest is very noisy and not particularly friendly to the other fowl. In fact, Rocky was given to our neighbor and she is looking for another home for him. How are we going to get the geese to move away from the gate?

Not going to happen. So finally I picked up a small 2x4 and went inside. (This was to defend myself I am not interested in being goose pecked) And I was amazed that the geese immediately retreated back to the grass) Hurray! McKayla and Carter got Sir Thomas to enter the gate, but Josephine chickened out and went to hide between the fence and the garbage cans. - Of course the woman has a mind of her own. The male birds herd them all day long, give her a break and she goes -shopping? Under the bushes and around to the front of the house. Finally we got her positioned back in front of the gate and with the help of the 2x4 (honestly I just held it horizontally in front of me- just in case) The geese moved back and Carter herded her inside. Good thing too because we were down to the very last crumb of bread.
I am thankful that we could help a neighbor out - and I am thankful that we are not raising chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys. I am very thankful for the eggs our neighbor gives us though.
